Carpet Bowling, Carvers and Choir

Carpet Bowling

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:15 a.m. in the Main Hall.

Carpet Bowling has been popular at Valley Seniors (and its earlier name, the OAP) for over 45 years. It is a very competitive game, but in good fun. There are two teams per carpet, and usually two carpets in play. There are often ten to twelve players, but new players are always welcome. Coordinator: Joan Ayres.

Carvers

Thursday 10 a.m. to around 2 p.m. in the Crafts Room. There are currently about 22 members in this drop-in group. Many have been getting together to perform their crafts for over a decade-and-a-half. Preferred woods for carving include yellow cedar, basswood and butternut. There are bird, chip and caricature carvers represented, as well as designers using pyrography.

Coir

Our Evergreen Choir consists of men and women who come together twice a week on Wedneday and Friday afternoons from September to June.

The program of music selection changes each month as we sing ballards, traditional songs, shows tunes, themed songs and songs that have stood the test of time. The first and second weeks of the month we rehearse at the VSO, and the third and fourth weeks we visit Care Homes and Retirement Homes to entertain the residents.

We are always looking for new members to join our choir. No auditions are necessary, but a love of singing is a must!
